ENGINE SERIAL NUMBERS AND WHY THEY ARE IMPORTANT
Cummins ISL is a highly flexible power choice with a low weight, compact size and fuel efficient 8.9 litre configuration.
The ISL engine has always been our best selling Cummins engine model.
Sometimes customers not only want to save time, but also want to know the quotation of the engine quickly. So some customers provide simple information such as ISL8.9, ISM11, 6BT, QSL, K19 to inquire about the price of the engine.
This is almost impossible to quote for us.
We will ask the customer to provide the ESN, which is very important for us to quote and ensure that the engine can be adapted to the customer’s equipment.
For example:
Perhaps the engine in the picture looks the same at first glance. But if you look closely, you will find the difference.
Both are ISLE engines, and the shape is almost the same.
But one is equipped with an engine brake assembly, and the engine is taller overall.
If there is no ESN or detailed requirements listed by the customer, it is difficult to show the difference of the engine, and the price range has no practical reference significance.
Some customers may be confused – I know it is very important to provide ESN when purchasing an engine, why do I need to provide ESN when I inquire about parts sometimes?
When looking for replacement parts, we need to have an Engine Serial Number (ESN) in order to ensure the part item is suitable. Part numbers can also be helpful for you to look it up. Yet, you have to ensure this is an active part number, since the part number may become inactive after a period of time.
